Updates

Signing in

• Passkeys: users sign in with a fingerprint, a face, a device PIN or a USB security key.
• A second factor is on by default. FileRun e-mails a code, so the protection does not wait for every user to set up an authenticator app.
• OpenID Connect, for Keycloak, Authentik, Authelia, Microsoft Entra ID, Google and any other provider that follows the standard.
• One-time recovery codes, and a Sessions panel where a user sees every active sign-in and revokes any of them.

Everywhere else

• Apps and devices connect with their own named passwords instead of the account password, and access tokens are signed, so they cannot be forged.
• Storage quota calculation is instant, uploads are much faster for accounts with a quota, and folder sizes are shown in the file list.
• Groups, roles, comments, tags, file locking and the trash can now be managed through the API.
• Nine more theme colour presets, wildcards in the file search, and a Hebrew translation.

• Each application folder is swapped in one step. At any moment the installation is either the old version or the new one, never half of each.
• The updater also keeps a copy of every file and folder it replaces, for the rare case that an update cannot finish.
• Should that happen, everything is restored, and the installation returns to the version it had.
• Applying an update again replaces every application file, so a file that was damaged or changed is repaired.

• Any installation from 2023 on updates directly to the latest release. There is no chain of versions to walk through first.
• Updates are installed only when you start them, from the control panel. Nothing is installed on its own.
• The step between replacing the files and updating the database is sealed with a one-time key, so nobody else can finish an update you started.
• What you added yourself is left where it is: your configuration, your own wording, and any application of your own.
